Awards Provide Recognition for Arkansas Recycling Efforts
The Arkansas Recycling Coalition (ARC) held its Annual Awards Presentation
& America/Arkansas Recycles Day Banquet at DeGray Lake State Resort
Park on Nov. 5. Founded in 1989, ARC unites large and small companies,
government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals in
a common effort to promote reduce, reuse, and recycling education
and programs. Award sponsors included the Arkansas Soft Drink Association,
Delta Plastics of the South, East Arkansas Planning & Development
District, Goldman & Company, HAZ-M.E.R.T., Inc., International Paper,
and Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control. Award winners were
the Pulaski County Regional Solid Waste Management District for
the America Recycles Day Award; Taldi Walter, a University of Central
Arkansas-Conway student for the Citizen Recycler of the Year; L'
Oreal USA for the Corporate Recycler of the Year; Dallas County
for the Community Involvement Award; City of Fayetteville for the
Government Recycler of the Year; City of Conway/Keep Faulkner County
Beautiful for the Recycling Education Program of the Year; and Cabot
Public Schools for the School/College/University Recycler of the
Year.

is a longtime employee of Virco Manufacturing Corp. in Conway and
a former board member of ARC.

Bill Holden of Cabot Public Schools received the
Arkansas Recycling Coalition's 2003 School/College/University Recycler
of the Year Award from Steve Martin, Chief of the Solid Waste Division
of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, during the ARC's
Annual Awards
Presentation and America/Arkansas Recycles Day Banquet at DeGray Lake
State Resort Park on Nov. 5.
